12 Days Of Wellness
It's the most wonderful time of the year!
It's that magical time when you get to spend time with your family and friends, go on vacation, and buy presents for the people you love. But frankly, it's also the busiest time of year. It can be hard to keep up with everything that’s going on, from holiday shopping to parties. All of these things can be quite exhausting and can take quite a toll on your health. However, that doesn’t mean that taking care of your wellness should stop being your number one priority!
That's why it's so important for all of us to make time for self-care during this busy season. The good news is that there are plenty of ways we can all make self-care a priority. One of the best things you can do is take a few minutes every day to focus on your health and wellness. And while it's easy to get overwhelmed by all the things you need to do during the busiest period of the year, taking time out each day for your well-being will help keep you feeling refreshed and energized so that you're able to enjoy all the fun things going on around you! Without further ado, here is our “12 days of wellness” list of tips for making self-care a priority this holiday season:
Day 1: Be kind to yourself
Let’s be real for a moment – we've all been in situations where we get frustrated with our actions or thoughts. It's important not to beat yourself up over it – you're human! Give yourself permission to make mistakes, then move on from them as quickly as possible.
Day 2: Focus on one thing at a time
We're all guilty of multitasking sometimes, and it can feel like it's saving us a lot of time. But multitasking takes its toll on us mentally and physically, so try focusing on one task at a time for one hour straight today – and don’t forget to rest in the meanwhile. You might be surprised by how much more productive you become when you stop trying to do too much at once. The last thing you want to do is to get burned out!
Day 3: Practice saying "no"
It can be hard to say no when someone needs your help. But it's important to realize that in many cases, you're not actually helping by agreeing to things you don't have time for – you're just spreading yourself too thin. So today, try saying “no” more often than usual. You might be surprised by how much more time you have for yourself when you're not constantly saying yes to things that aren't important.
Day 4: Set a timer for 30 minutes and do nothing
This is the perfect day to give yourself a break from all your hard work. Take this time to rest and let your mind wander – you've earned it! You will be quite surprised by the effect that doing nothing brings!
Day 5: Find at least one thing that makes you smile today
It can be a funny joke, a picture of your family or friends, or an adorable cat video. Whatever it is, find something that makes you smile, and then spend some time enjoying the feeling!
Day 6: Write down one thing you love about yourself
This can be anything from your great sense of humor to the fact that you're always willing to help others out. Once you've done this, read it aloud. You'll feel better knowing that you're proud of who you are! Saying it in front of a mirror can also be of tremendous help!
Day 7: Try something new today
Take this time to try something you've always wanted to do but haven't had the chance to yet – drawing, cooking, or playing an instrument are all excellent examples of things that can help you learn new skills and meet new people.
Day 8: Take a yoga class
Yoga can help you clear your mind and relax – it's a great way to bring wellness into your life. Not only does it help improve flexibility and strength, but it can also reduce stress levels and improve overall health. Try to find a class that offers beginner-level classes if you're new to yoga or have never taken one before. These classes are usually less intense and will help you get used to the movements.
Day 9: Take a trip out of town to explore the natural beauty of your area
You don't need to travel far to find some of the most beautiful scenery in the world; even if you live in a large city, there are likely areas around it that offer great views of nature and plenty of outdoor activities. Go hiking or camping to escape your usual surroundings and explore new places.
Day 10: Get a massage
Today is a day to treat yourself, so why not focus on relaxation and get a massage or another relaxing treatment you enjoy? You can also create your own spa day by taking a long bath and using some of the oils or lotions you have on hand at home. If you find yourself at ease with your mind, know that you are doing a great job!
Day 11: Take time to read something inspiring
You might find an empowering book or blog post that will give you the motivation and confidence you need to continue your journey. You might even want to write down some notes or thoughts in a journal to refer back to them later.
Day 12: At-home skincare
Today's self-care tip is about how to pamper yourself at home: by taking care of your skin! Skin is a form of personal purification and helps keep us healthy. That's why we decided to include it in our 12 Days of Wellness!
